'Sparky Matsunaga - Warrior Poet'

Storybook Theatre has chosen to commission a professional storyteller to create a one man performance about the life and times of former United States Senator Sparky Masayuki Matsunaga of Hanapepe, Kaua’i. The program is filled with entertaining personal stories, anecdotes, poetry and historic recollections of Sparky’s life and times.

Warrior Poet will be premiered at the Kauai Soto Zen Temple on the International Day of Peace, September 21st at 6:30 pm. In addition to the 40 minute performance, the evening program will feature a peace parade from Sparky’s statue at Storybook Theatre to the Zen Temple and many other local performers and expressions of peace throughout the evening. Donations will be accepted.

Waimea Theater on September 22nd at 6:30pm admission will be $15 for adults and $5 for children. A limited seating special showing will be at the Spark M. Matsunaga International Peace Garden at Storybook Theatre on Sunday September 23rd at 6:30 pm. It will feature a meal catered by local favorite restaurant, MCS Grill in Hanapepe.

Additionally, Mr. Takiyama-Chung’s historical presentation is available for a small fee for 4th grade through high school students and will include his 40 minute one man show and a question and answer session with one of America’s most renown professional storytellers.
