Hawaii Early Learning & Development Standards

Working with the Governor’s Office of Early Learning through the University of Hawai’i Foundation, Storybook Theatre has created a series of five videos that introduce educators, parents, and lay people to the important world of childhood development for children ages 2-5 and the new educational standards (HELDS – Hawai’i Early Learning and Development Standards). These videos focus on educational approaches for children ages 2-5 and includes interviews with both classroom teachers and program directors from pre-schools across the islands.Storybook Theatre will be expanding the video series to include information about children ages 0-2, thus covering important information about child development and learning from birth to entering kindergarten. There is general consensus that in order for children to succeed at the upper levels, they must be equipped with the right tools prior to entering kindergarten. This video series is available to schools as a professional development program or for a parent night presentation.
